Article outline

Prerequisites

Creating new grid views

By default there is one standard, system view for both business requirements and user stories called 'All'. It is non-editable and displays all columns and all records.

To create a new custom view click on the 'Grid Views' dropdown in either the business requirements or user stories grid.

Choosing columns to display

When you click to create a new grid view you will be asked to do 2 things:

  • Name your custom grid view

  • Choose which fields (standard or custom) you want to display as columns (you can do that by dragging and dropping the fields from the available list on the left to the included list on the right)

Applying default filters for the grid

Once the custom grid view is created, select it from the grid view dropdown and choose the 'Edit filters' option from the menu.

You can choose to apply a default filter for any field that is currently shown as a column in the grid. You cannot apply filters to fields which are not displayed as columns.

Choose the operator and provide a string value by which you wish to filter the business requirements and user stories. Then click 'Add' to confirm the filter.

Choose another column if you wish to apply another filter and repeat the procedure. Click confirm at the bottom of the window when you area ready.

The grid view will now only contain records that match those criteria.

Filtering grid views

You can still apply your own, individual filters or even overwrite the default grid filters by selecting the icon at the top of the column. Any filters applied in that way will only work for you and not other users.

When you clear your own individual filters or reset filters for the grid view, the grid will come back to default filter settings.

Switching between views

Users can switch between different grid views by selecting them from the grid view dropdown and then choosing 'switch to' from the menu.

Users without requirement manager permission can switch between views by simply selecting the view from the dropdown.

Other options

You can also:

  • Clone grid views:

    • creates a new view,

    • copies the columns,

    • does not copy the filters

  • Delete grid views:

    • you cannot delete grid view you are currently in,

    • you cannot create the standard 'All' grid view.
