Every Space 'belongs' to a specific domain. When you create a Space, a domain is set based on the email domain of the user who created the Space.
The reason for having a domain associated with the Space is because Corporate Management allows every organization to have complete visibility and control of the users and Spaces that belong to their corporate domains.
You might want to change the domain on the Space when you want to transfer ownership of it from one organization to another.
Prerequisites
There are two distinct situations that affect how a domain transfer can happen:
If Space belongs to an organization with Corporate Management, only Corporate Admin can change the domain on the Space
If Space does not belong to an organization with Corporate Management, a Space Admin on the Space can change the domain.
Space Admin permission on the Space (if Space does not belong to Corporate Management)
Corporate Admin permission (if Space does belong to Corporate Management)
Changing domain on the Space without Corporate Management
In order to transfer a Space to another domain, when the current domain does not belong to Corporate Management, follow these steps:
Make sure there is another user in your Space with Space Admin permission whose email domain matches the domain you wish to switch the Space to.
Make sure you are in the main Elements application. It is the one with the menu on the left hand side that allows you to navigate to different features. You will also notice the name of your Space at the top.
Click on the "Change space" dropdown in the top right part of the toolbar. Then select 'Go to Space list' from the dropdown.
Select the Space from the list (click on the row)
In the right panel, in the 'Details' tab, find the primary domain field. Click 'Update' button next to it.
You will be asked to select one of the domains of the existing Space Admins on the Space.
Changing domain on the Space with Corporate Management
When there is Corporate Management set up, the ownership of Spaces is strictly controlled by Corporate Admin. Space admins can no longer change the domain on their Spaces (as it would transfer the Space and its content from one organization to another).
Make sure there is another user in your Space with Space Admin permission whose email domain matches the domain you wish to switch the Space to.
Make sure you are in the main Elements application. It is the one with the menu on the left hand side that allows you to navigate to different features. You will also notice the name of your Space at the top.
Click on the "Gear icon" in the top right part of the toolbar. Then select 'Corporate settings' from the dropdown. This is only available to Corporate Admins.
In Corporate Management, click on the 'Spaces' menu. Find the Space in the list that you want to transfer to another domain.
In the right panel, in the 'Details' tab, find the Domain field. Click 'Update' button next to it.
You will be asked to select one of the domains of the existing Space Admins on the Space.
