Changes to your metadata: summary email & statuses

Email with Salesforce Org model changes; Org updates summary; Salesforce Org data model changes; Why does it show as updated?

Keeping track of changes in your Salesforce Org has never been easier, meet our automated post-sync changelog reports delivered to your inbox after each Org sync.

Prerequisites

Overview

After each sync of your Salesforce Org, our system generates change log records for Salesforce metadata that were somehow altered since the last sync. Differences in your Salesforce configuration are highlighted as:

  • Proposed (metadata that is planned to be created)

  • New (there is metadata that wasn't there before the latest sync)

  • Updated (some aspect of the metadata has been altered)

  • Deleted (item has either been deleted, or we failed to fetch it)

Note: for deleted components of some metadata types, the user might be shown as "undefined". This is because we are unable to retrieve information on deleted metadata.

Keeping track of Org changes

Keeping track of any changes to your Salesforce Org is easy. After every sync, we send the specified recipients' email summarizing the scope of changes and the users responsible for those changes:

AI summary of the changes

When your Space has the Automation & Execution Intelligence add-on, the email opens with a short AI summary of the whole sync. It answers the first question you have when the email arrives: is there anything in this sync that needs my attention?

The summary is one paragraph of five to seven sentences, written for an admin rather than a developer. It is built to put the most important changes first:

  • It leads with the highest-impact changes: access and permission changes, deletions, and automation that changes how your Org behaves

  • It groups related changes, for example several changes on the same object

  • It reports lower-risk, high-volume changes such as page layouts and reports as counts rather than listing them

  • It always mentions deletions, even when there is little detail available about the deleted component

Getting more information from the email

For each section and its update, you can "click here to inspect" to review the changes made by a specific user and review the comparison change log in the Changes -> Change logs tab.

To look at changes over a longer period rather than one sync, run a report on all changes in your Org.

Note: If there have been no changes to your Org since the last sync, we will not send you a daily sync email.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn’t my email have an AI summary?

Your post-sync email has no AI summary when the Automation & Execution Intelligence add-on is not enabled for your Space, or when no summary was generated for that sync. When there is no summary, the email simply starts with the list of changes - there is no empty box or placeholder.

Does the AI summary cover only the metadata types I chose to receive?

The AI summary covers only the metadata types in your own scope. If you have chosen which types of changes you receive, the summary describes those types and nothing else.

Which AI model writes the summary?

By default the AI summary is generated with Elements’ own AI connection. If your organisation uses its own connection through the Salesforce Trust Layer, the summary is generated through that connection instead. See ElementsGPT: Using your own Trust Layer connection.
